Each heroine was chosen or born into their destined roles, often taking taking on the mantle of their forebearers, and given special Power Gems that bestow upon the bearer great power. While the Gem Angels typically operate in Asian locales, same, such as Jade Lightning and Crystal Cyclone, have gravitated to Metrobay as part of a superhero exchange program designed to breed peace and unity across the seas.
